1. Big Fat Snare Drum – Steve’s Donut 14″
Steve's Donut 14"
Overview
Steve's Donut by Big Fat Snare Drum is a drum mute that gives drummers that 70s dead snare drum tone. Made from high-density foam, it's designed to fit most 14" snare drums and dramatically dampens the snare ring without compromising the drum's tonal qualities.

Unlike other mutes, like studio rings, that only cover the edge drum head, Steve's Donut covers a much larger surface area on the drum. The fit is snug to the rim, preventing any shifts while playing.
If used on stage, you can easily change the tone of your drum just by slapping on this accessory, going from a tighter, brighter snare tone to a deep, dark, and dead sound. When used with very low tunings, the muffle effect will change the sound to a point where it sounds horrendous—keep that in mind.

I have the Gibraltar SC-BCSA and it works very well and yes, it is on a straight stand. I prefer the Slapklatz and the Truetone gel, they last longer and don’t leave residue on the head.
I have the BFSD and the Donuts but I think they dampen too much and they don’t leave the tone and wood sound of the shell.
The Proline stand for sabres is very good and the Chromatic foam really are better than felt, they can keep the cymbals better stand on the stand and will keep the angle better.
