How we make money
How DrumSpy stays free.
We don’t charge for reviews, guides, or tools. The site still costs money to run, so here is exactly where that money comes from, in plain terms.
Affiliate links
Buy through a link here and the retailer pays us. You pay the same.
When you click a retailer link on a review or guide and buy something, we earn a small commission. That is the main way DrumSpy keeps the lights on.
The commission comes from the retailer, not from you. Your price is identical whether you use our link or walk into the store yourself.
We would rather lose the commission than point you toward something we do not believe in.
It never affects a score or a recommendation. Every product is tested and scored before a single link goes on the page.
Transparency
What an affiliate link looks like.
Most retailer links here are affiliate links. Some are plain links with no tracking at all. You can always tell which is which by looking at the URL.
The .sjv.io and .pxf.io domains belong to Impact, the affiliate network we use for Sweetwater and Guitar Center. zZounds uses its own tracking ID, and the tag=drumspy-20 on Amazon is our Associates ID. That is the entire list.
What we don’t do
Things you will not find here.
No display ads
DrumSpy used to run display ads. We removed them. Ads slow the page down, clutter the read, and put a wall between you and the content. If the writing is good enough, you will use the links.
No sponsored reviews
We do not accept sponsored reviews or paid placements. If a brand sends a product, it goes through the same testing and earns the same honest score as anything we buy ourselves.
